Beaches
Mudeford and Friars cliff
These are probably the closest beaches to us and about a 20 minute drive in the direction of Highcliffe and Christchurch. The beaches are predominantly sand and pebbles. At Friars Cliff and Mudeford Beach there are a couple of nice cafés to get food. We love the Noisy Lobster and this serves breakfast through to dinner.
Hengistbury Head and Mudeford Spit
A short ferry trip from Mudeford are the beautiful beaches of Hengistbury Head. The trip costs £2 per adult and takes about 10 minutes. Once there you can walk along the spit and see the beach huts that sell for well over £300k each. You can enjoy some wonderful food courtesy of the Beach House which is also licenced so you can sip a glass of wine or a beer with your food too.
Bournemouth Bay and Sandbanks
Stretching from Hengistbury Head right along to Sandbanks is a beautiful 10 mile length of golden sandy beach. The beaches get very busy around the touristy areas like Bournemouth Pier but go a little distance either side of the pier and you will find it gets a lot quieter.
